We are super focused on mobile photos and videos combined with chat and especially for situations in ER, Air Lift operations, Ambulance use cases as well as hospital exam rooms where internet radio signals are very iffy. And viewing part will always be free so that consults can be done with anyone without a worry of additional costly signups. I did not want to openly post something that could be mistaken for a commercial promotion, but my company provides secure mobile photography and “chat” collaboration capabilities. It took my company three months of back and forth iterations with Apple to get our app published because we were doing some innovative things with the network stack that their engineer couldn’t figure out (seriously 4 weeks for the employee to figure out how to click on a link in an email with no recourse to escalate the issue at the time).įirst, I am so grateful that there is OpenEMR and a very active community and that it supports most of all big EHR systems support like HL7, FHIR and even DICOM as I just learned from a previous post by sjpadgett. I have a friend that lost over a million dollars of app development when apple decided to pull their app for some arbitrary reason. You also don’t have to deal with the problems of the gatekeepers. HTML5 is nice that you maintain language consistency and you can write once and ‘nearly’ deploy across all devices. You also have access to all of the native device functionality as well as for HIPAA pieces better encryption libraries as well as apples HealthKit if you go native. If there is any kind of memory constraint I’ve seen safari website databases be treated as ‘cached’ files and dropped whereas native app data is more likely to be retained. Safari also has the option of purging your HTML5 databases from time to time even though they claim they’ll retain data. Android plays better here than safari support. If you want to include anything with telehealth (smooth video, audio, etc) its been my experience that you invariably will run into issues with HTML5 audio and video for anything beyond the pure basics. Unless you go the Ionic/Cordova kind of route your HTML5 app will be limited and run into issues if you go beyond a simple business app. There are pros and cons to native apps and to HTML5 apps. I have a number of friends that are having really good success with both Ionic and react native if that helps with anything. At the time Ionic was too buggy for us to work well there, but it has gotten better. I’ve built apps both for android and iOS. Thanks for your attention and regularly scheduled thread activity may now resume. If anyone cares to help sponsor or contribute to this end, please PM me or Brady. I know we have been talking about the API for awhile now and it has been slow coming but, this is going to happen one way or another as it is a mission for me. The plan is to be able to search all available repositories and interface with a default repository for the installed enterprise. Embedded Provider Client in OpenEMR that allows interfacing with external FHIR repositories to search, import and export patient data.Complete clinical resource API meeting ONC clinical dataset. We also are close to having a major sponsor that we hope to have with us in the next few weeks where our planned milestones point to having completed 14 to 16 weeks after starting. Granted our API is still evolving but, the good news is that the engineering has been worked out with another one of our excellent engineers coming on board to help see this through. I know of and have tested with a couple groups that are using our FHIR/Standard Rest API for phone apps. This is where FHIR is the best fit and the general purpose of FHIR. What is being talked about here should really not be about trying to engineer OpenEMR to small screen devices but developing clients that do these task.

They are instance types, platform, scope, and tenancy. There are four attributes that affect pricing with Reserved Instances on EC2s. As you might expect, Standard RIs are cheaper than Convertible RIs, but lack the flexibility, which may be detrimental depending on the situation. With Standard RI, you can modify but not exchange, and with Convertible RI, you can both modify and exchange features. With Convertible Reserved Instance, you can exchange the instance with another Convertible Reserved Instance with new attributes like instance family, type, and platform. Standard Reserved Instances have some modifiable features after purchase, like instance size, but you cannot change the instance family. There are two types of Reserved Instances: Standard, and Convertible. As you might expect, purchasing a 3 year term offers bigger discounts. In exchange, you will be able to purchase the capacity for substantially lower prices than if you purchased them On-Demand. This means that you are committing to purchase certain amount of capacity for 1 or 3 years, and then paying for it upfront. You can make capacity reservation for a term of 1 or 3 years. (Remember: a Region includes multiple Availability Zones.) Zonal Reserved Instances are assigned to a specific Availability Zone, and cannot be moved from one Availability Zone to another. Regional Reserved Instances are purchased for a whole Region, and provide Availability Zone flexibility. There are two ways to make reservations for EC2 Reserved Instances: Regional and Zonal. Reservation Area: Regional or Availability Zone What are my Options with AWS Reserved Instances? When you establish predictable resource usage for certain services, it might be time to consider paying upfront to make capacity reservations to save big. Or you might find that your database usage is fairly consistent month to month up to a certain point, and feel ready to commit to reserving that amount of Amazon Redshift resources upfront. You might find that every month, you are using a certain amount of compute resources with your Amazon EC2 instances. Beyond that, you’re saving money.Īs your products mature, you might begin seeing patterns for resource usage. If you bought a “$200 for $100” voucher for your favorite Italian restaurant, your “break even point” is eating at least $100 worth of food so that you get your money’s worth. The “break even point” is the point at which the savings from reserving the instance is realized. However, unlike physical servers, doing so allows you to save a lot of money… As long as you are utilizing the Reserved Instances beyond their “break even point.” So why would you want to reserve capacities with AWS Reserved Instances? Doesn’t that go against the “On-Demand” feature of Cloud Computing?īy purchasing AWS Reserved Instances, you are committing to pay discounted prices in advance, which is a little like purchasing that physical server for your on-premises data center before you start a new project. The allure of Cloud Computing platforms like Amazon Web Services is that you can use as much… or as little as you want, month to month, and you will only be billed for what you use. You don’t want to commit to too little… or too much for any of your resources. It’s hard to guess what the demands will be for specific AWS resources, especially at product launch. There are many moving parts in how much resource capacities you need for your products or services. For Amazon EC2, AWS’s virtual server service, you could save up to 75% off hourly rates by using Reserved Instances!Ĭapacity reservations using Reserved Instances are available with Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, Amazon Elasticsearch, Amazon ElastiCache, and Amazon Redshift. In both cases, in exchange for making a commitment and paying in advance, you’ve locked in a deal for a discounted rate.ĪWS Reserved Instances (RI) work in similar ways, allowing you to pay steeply discounted rates, compared to paying hourly. You might remember buying coupons on Groupon for 50% off a $100 meal at a local restaurant for a frugal date night. It’s called “ Reserved Instances (RI),” and it’s available for many popular AWS services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, Amazon Elasticsearch, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon Redshift, etc. Today, I’m here to introduce a way to save money on AWS that is often feared because of its perceived (or actual) complexity. And I don’t know too many people who don’t love saving money, not to mention making the accounting department happy! There is nothing I love more than saving money (except maybe delicious food). You have to be that asshole in the Starbucks line rattling off so many drink qualifiers, the next person in line will be 90% certain you voted for Trump.īut that’s what Starbucks is all about, right? If they didn’t want you to modify their drinks, they wouldn’t let you. This, without whipped cream, would bump your drink down to 59 calories with 8 grams of fat, 10.5 grams of carbohydrates, 8 grams of sugars, and 1.5 grams of protein.Īnd a funky Splenda-like aftertaste, but that’s between you and your god. But if you truly DGAF, you can replace the mocha with sugar-free mocha. It’s too good to be true, it’s made out of chemicals, and it tastes funky. I personally think sugar-free syrup was invented by Satan and should be avoided. If you want to live on the edge and add it to your drink, it’ll tack 82 calories, 8 grams of fat, 5 grams of saturated fat, 1 gram of carbs and 1 gram of sugar to your order.īut wait, there is still one more hack that the truly diehard can employ to get their drink to be even lower-cal: sugar-free syrup. This means it’s got plenty of fat and even saturated fat. Starbucks whipped cream is not your average spray-can light topping. Of course, this leaves out whipped cream. Now we’re at a total of 76 calories with 8.5 grams of fat, 17.5 grams of carbohydrates, 14 grams of sugars, and 1.5 grams of protein. And for the mocha, that’s about 38 calories with 8 grams of fat, 9 grams of carbs, 6, grams of sugars, and 1.5 grams of protein. For the peppermint syrup, that’s 30 calories with 8 carbs and 8 sugars. That’s egregious in terms of both calories and sweetness.īut if you’re drinking a blonde roast with a little almond milk, all you really need is one and a half pumps, or one pump if you really don’t have a sweet tooth. A standard grande latte has up to four pumps each of these syrups, totaling eight. Next, you’ll want to ask for one or one and a half pumps each of mocha and peppermint syrups. It has less than one gram of sugar and protein. If black coffee is too much for you, you can add almond milk - either add it yourself cold, or ask them to steam some for you to really get that latte je ne sais quoi.Īn eighth of a cup of Starbucks almond milk - which is probably slightly more than you’ll add anyway - has only 8 calories, 0.5 grams of fat, and 0.5 grams of carbohydrates. Holiday Blonde Roast works best, because the flavor’s not too strong and it says “Holiday” on the label so it just adds to the whole feeling. The secret is to skip the latte and order a grande coffee at five calories. I have figured out a way to replicate the taste of a peppermint mocha at Starbucks for 76 calories. And no, it’s not just ordering a skinny peppermint mocha, which clocks in at 160 calories and still contains dairy, which I try to stay away from. So because I am obsessed with peppermint mocha lattes and healthy living, I have over the years devised a way to have my low-cal coffee drink and eat it too. There’s no satisfaction in drinking more than a third of your recommended daily calorie intake. So yeah, a grande peppermint mocha is about equivalent to a McDonald’s double cheeseburger, plus the added sugar of a generous smearing of Nutella. But at least that would be a solid meal, you know? You could eat a double cheeseburger with Nutella and chug along for a few hours without getting hungry again. The only silver lining is that it contains 13 grams of protein, making it a somewhat passable after-gym snack if you can stomach all the sugar. Like, a grande peppermint mocha with 2% milk - not even whole milk! - and whipped cream has 440 calories, 15 grams of fat (23% daily value), 10 grams of saturated fat (50% daily value!!!), 63 grams of carbs, and 54 grams of sugar. They also taste incredible.īut they have a ridiculous amount of calories, fats, and sugars. There’s a flavor for everyone, they’re customizable, and they feel accessible and hoity-toity all at once. Starbucks holiday drinks are one of the best inventions of the fast food industry. But if you do happen to love delicious treats while also not loving the thought of drinking 440 calories in one fell swoop, well, my friend, this story is for you. I’m not saying you need to lose weight or participate in Santacon. if you want any bam margera deck get the tatoo one. The SQL language is subdivided into several language elements, including: U P D A T E c l a u s e : Ī chart showing several of the SQL language elements comprising a single statement In June 1979, Relational Software introduced one of the first commercially available implementations of SQL, Oracle V2 (Version2) for VAX computers.īy 1986, ANSI and ISO standard groups officially adopted the standard "Database Language SQL" language definition. Navy, Central Intelligence Agency, and other U.S. (now Oracle Corporation) saw the potential of the concepts described by Codd, Chamberlin, and Boyce, and developed their own SQL-based RDBMS with aspirations of selling it to the U.S. In the late 1970s, Relational Software, Inc. The label SQL later became the acronym for Structured Query Language.Īfter testing SQL at customer test sites to determine the usefulness and practicality of the system, IBM began developing commercial products based on their System R prototype, including System/38, SQL/DS, and IBM Db2, which were commercially available in 1979, 1981, and 1983, respectively. The original name SEQUEL, which is widely regarded as a pun on QUEL, the query language of Ingres, was later changed to SQL (dropping the vowels) because "SEQUEL" was a trademark of the UK-based Hawker Siddeley Dynamics Engineering Limited company. After moving to the San Jose Research Laboratory in 1973, they began work on a sequel to SQUARE. Ĭhamberlin and Boyce's first attempt at a relational database language was SQUARE (Specifying Queries in A Relational Environment), but it was difficult to use due to subscript/superscript notation. This version, initially called SEQUEL ( Structured English QUEry Language), was designed to manipulate and retrieve data stored in IBM's original quasirelational database management system, System R, which a group at IBM San Jose Research Laboratory had developed during the 1970s. Boyce after learning about the relational model from Edgar F. SQL was initially developed at IBM by Donald D. Despite the existence of standards, virtually no implementations in existence adhere to it fully, and most SQL code requires at least some changes before being ported to different database systems. Since then, the standard has been revised multiple times to include a larger set of features and incorporate common extensions. SQL became a standard of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in 1986 and of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1987. Despite not entirely adhering to the relational model as described by Codd, SQL became the most widely used database language. The model was described in his influential 1970 paper, "A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks". SQL was one of the first commercial languages to use Edgar F. Although SQL is essentially a declarative language ( 4GL), it also includes procedural elements. The scope of SQL includes data query, data manipulation (insert, update, and delete), data definition ( schema creation and modification), and data access control. Originally based upon relational algebra and tuple relational calculus, SQL consists of many types of statements, which may be informally classed as sublanguages, commonly: a data query language (DQL), a data definition language (DDL), a data control language (DCL), and a data manipulation language (DML). Secondly, it eliminates the need to specify how to reach a record, i.e., with or without an index. Firstly, it introduced the concept of accessing many records with one single command. Introduced in the 1970s, SQL offered two main advantages over older read–write APIs such as ISAM or VSAM. It is particularly useful in handling structured data, i.e., data incorporating relations among entities and variables. Structured Query Language ( SQL) ( / ˌ ɛ s ˌ k juː ˈ ɛ l/ ⓘ S-Q-L, sometimes / ˈ s iː k w əl/ "sequel" for historical reasons) is a domain-specific language used in programming and designed for managing data held in a relational database management system (RDBMS), or for stream processing in a relational data stream management system (RDSMS). The entire arc has a 180° angle.Ī triangle is a closed polygon with three sides, three vertices, and three angles. The curved line’s points are at equal distances from its centre.Ī semi-circle has two sides, one curved and one straight. Let us look at a few of them and their properties.Ĭircles are entirely round shapes formed by a single curved line. Regular and irregular 2D shapes include the circle, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, and hexagon. A 2D shape is irregular if all of its sides are unequal in length and all of its angles are unequal in measurement.A 2D shape is considered to be regular if all of its sides have the same length and all of its interior angles are of the same measurement.Types of 2D ShapesĢD shapes are further classified into 2 types – regular or irregular – based on their length and interior angles. Rectangle, circle, square, triangle, quadrilateral and pentagon are some examples of 2D shapes. It has two dimensions: length and breadth, but no depth or height. A sheet of paper, for example, has a two-dimensional shape. Plane shapes are another term for 2D shapes: a two-dimensional, closed, or flat plane shape. For example, triangles and squares are polygons.īecause 2D objects have no depth, they cannot be physically held a 2D shape is absolutely flat. In general, plane figures made of lines are known as polygons. Also, these figures can have any number of sides. Straight or curved lines make up the sides of this shape. In other words, a plane object that has only length and breadth is 2 dimensional. In geometry, a shape or a figure that has a length and a breadth is a 2D shape. |
